Second-Year Male Sharp-shinned Hawk (above),
Accipiter striatus

Since 1982 at Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History, 168 species of Birds (Aves) have been seen or heard on or over the 11-acre property. Of these, 124 species have been captured, banded, and released (28 Jun 1982 through 24 Apr 2008).
